Very Inspiring.... - 2006/09/15 12:49
Message Boards intimidate me, but I just wanted to share the happiness of your inspired hard-work on this beloved Poetic Portal. Congratulations dearest Jocelyne and Aurora and each of the participants and founders for keeping this fountain of information alive and looking so beautifully inviting!
We live most days of our lives too unpoetically. Our diet thin, our mind troubled, our jaw set, the traffic roaring: the beautiful seems bent on eluding us. How exactly can an artist add more poetry to her/his daily menu?
By placing a note on the refrigerator door: "More poetry, dear, more poetry!"? By rhyming the first thought when awaken? By creating haiku in the spaces between worries? Each artist, born to poetry, still must seize the poetic out of the humdrum surroundings. Well...some days are harder than others. I believe that we are all poets: in each relationship, in our day jobs, when we clean, cook or change the oil. Each on its own. We are all poets, bringing our individual sunbeam into the drab and weary world.
We can still watch or hear the sea smile, we can still open our windows and let life pour in, we can still sing (or dance) for our own amusement...Joy....
As Paul Gauguin saw it:
"The cyclone ends. The sun returns; the lofty coconut trees lift up their plumes again; man does likewise. The great anguish is over; joy has returned; the sea smiles like a child."
Thank goodness for Poetic Portal, we can always invigorate our souls in the journeys and history of poetry. All the best.
