“We come into this world head first and go out feet first; in between, it is all a matter of balance.” – Paul Boese
So, here we are, at the end of what has been a difficult year for EVERYONE I know AND don’t know. As my friends and I decorated my four foot Charlie Brown Chriskwanzikhahsolstivus tree at the end of Thanksgiving weekend, I found myself weighing all the good and bad things that have happened this year…
Good news: I have a part-time job. Bad news: I am still not at the level of income I need to be at right now. Good news: We have a new president about to take office who will enact sweeping changes. Bad news: Those changes are going to HURT, especially in the wallet. Bad News: Two of my favorite literary figures passed away this year: David Foster Wallace and Forrest J. Ackerman. Good news: Though they will both be dearly missed, they behind a legacy to inspire future generations of writers and artists.
Bad news: We are ten days late on getting this new issue up and running. Good news: As usual, poeticdiversity is chock full of literary goodness, so I think you can forgive us… super please, with cherries nearby?
A BIG thanks to Sondra L. Scott for wearing the guest editor tiara again, and a HUGE thanks to poeticdiversity editors Annette Sugden, Julia Bemiss, and Jerry Garcia, for all the time AND care put into each issue. Thanks to all the contributing poets, editors and writers who have published work in all three issues this year, and an EXTRA special thanks to webmaster Reggie Ige, for being patient with me and for keeping poeticdiversity up and running. And, most importantly, thank YOU, dear readers, for sticking it out with us!
