Using the HTML Editor

Using the HTML editor on PoeticPortal to add poetry to your area is relatively easy.
There some steps that must be taken and a few basic skills that must be mastered to get good results.

  1. Log in with your User ID and password.
  2. In the top menu click on Poets.
  3. From the list of authors presented click on your name.
  4. Click on the "New" link.
  5. You should now see Poets/Add Content.
  6. Fill in the title of your poem in the space provided.
  7. Click on Category and select your name.
(To find your name in the list repeatedly press the first letter of your last name.)
  8. Open your previously composed work in a text editor such as NotePad.
  9. Press "Ctrl+A" to select all text then "Ctrl+C" to copy text to the ClipBoard.
  10. In the "Intro Text" box paste your content by pressing "Ctrl+V" or by clicking in the orange folder icon with the "T" on it.
(In the tool bar at the top of the edit box.)
  11. To save your work so far without closing the editor, press the "Apply" button.
(Note: It is a good idea to use the Apply button 5 or 10 minutes to keep your edit session active.  A session could time out which could cause the loss of any changes done after the previous "Apply".)
  12. Make any desired changes to the layout and/or content.
  13. Be sure to include your name as author at the bottom of the work.
  14. When done, to save and close the editor press the "Save" icon at the top. (Diskette)

The content must be reviewed by PoeticPortal staff prior to being published. Depending on workload, this could take a few days. It would be a good idea to send an email to poeticportal@poeticportal.net with the subject "work to be published".
