Vance (Floots) RobertsPoet and PhotographerVance Roberts/Floots was born in 1948 and spent most of his childhood and early teens not far from London. Then, at the age of seventeen, the lure of the road took him to Devon beaches, driftwood fires in self-conscious pursuit of a "beat" lifestyle. He has done most things from posting letters to picking potatoes though, following a spell as a "mature student", he spent twenty years teaching English. This came to an end when a vocal chord gave up the ghost - leaving him husky, healthy and jobless. He has always written but teaching, combined with singing and playing the blues in noisy pubs took priority for a while. His work has been published occasionally in print, e-magazines, and in a couple of anthologies. At present he has no major projects in mind and is happy as a blogger. He now lives in hiding on the Isle of Skye, spending his time exploring, writing, taking pictures and playing a variety of wind instruments to the echoes in deserted glens.
