As I traveled on my way,
I stopped to watch a child at play.
I watched him and the ball he tossed,
And realized what mankind has lost.
Somehow, we've lost that childhood view
Of a world gone by that we once knew.
We've lost our simple faith in man
Our happiness with what's at hand.
We seem always to long for more;
To know what lies beyond the door.
Ill content with what's at hand,
We always seek for greener "land."
I long but to return to when,
We valued each and every friend;
A time when the world was a simpler place,
And life was not lived as a race.
