Tigress Print E-mail

XCI

Those eyes' dark light enlighten discontent;
Their feral beacons freeze me, as I stare;
From heartless jungle secret will is sent,
Illuminated by seduction's glare.

You burn the night, cruel tigress—orange, black;
Cool flames the aspect of your cautious heat;
And, mesmerized, I wait for your attack—
Fall victim to its swift, instinctive feat.

Consume me with the silent rage of fire;
Thus, overtaken I succumb and learn
The pleasure of the kill is my desire,
For in my heart's own jungle, do I burn.

Cruel tigress, prey on me throughout the night,
Your will becomes my want; your dark, my light.

 -Michael D. Petti

(* Inspired by William Blake's Poem: "The Tiger.")
