Modern Day Romance

I
have
one megabyte
of words and phrases and
unbinding clauses, feelings expelled
in wanton disclosure of a work day's boredom,
snatches of your life you have given me in the casual
relating of your everyday,—glimpses of how you feel, what
you cook, troubles you are experiencing, how much wine is needed
to glorify the mundane and dull the desire of companionship, needs tested
on this paperless matrix of enmeshing hearts like an experiment in seduct-
ion and arousal, a victory in my day when you are happy, sadness if
you are sad, laughter at the sight of your exclamation points of
passion, worry when you dare explore a life outside my
limited realm of your recognition, a virtual exchange

your This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it lighting up my
rain-soaked dismal days, and, Oh! that
transgressional exchange of phone
numbers, each individual number
now a blazing byte in my
excited mind, writing
your bar code in my
life, to be scanned
and paid for at
the checkout
registers
of my
whim

And
I could
easily delete
my entire hard
drive of you, but
I can never erase the
sound of your sultry
voice with its need
in the ears of my
consciousness
and

my driving yearning,
calling calling calling
