Their knowledge and wealth, Sent objects into space, While hungry children watched, In homeless disgrace. They solved much disease, And relieved much pain, Over-populating with ease, So nothing was gained. They served their machines, Intended to ease their toil, And buried the ground in rock, And swamps of oil. Seeking to understand nature, With science so wise, They destroyed the subject, Before their own eyes. Emotional creatures, Capable of gentle care, Struggled to survive, Their imperfect air. Their intelligence, And controlling might, Destroying their host, And thus it's parasites. They created an obstacle, Just to jump it, And all the while in pride, Blew their own trumpet. They spoke it, wrote it, Recorded their worth, Though it's value was naught, Without planet Earth. Nigel L. Spark 31/5/1992
