This is a crossroad in my life
In which I have no desire to go back
To any period of my past
Whether it be distant or close
Either as a child or as an adult

There are moments
Rather than periods
To which I would certainly return —
Like photographs
Rather than movies

Indeed, even then,
I would do so as fleetingly
As I would look at a photograph

A smirk
A smile
Might accompany my journey back
To those concrete moments in my past

But I would gladly leave them
As soon as possible

On my way back to the present

Where images of my past expect me
Which I barely wish to re-live
