I could tell the sun to stop shining
And surely as my words, the day would end.
I could tell the wind to stop blowing
And somehow know I'd never feel it again.
I could say almost anything
And before my eyes see it come true,
But the one thing in this life I never counted on
Was the gentle surprise of falling in love with you.

I could tell the rain to stop falling
And the earth would dry and blow my world away.
I could tell the stars to stop shining
And in a moment's light I'd see them all go away.
Dream by dream I'd make reality
And prophecies I would see through,
But how on earth could I have ever imagined
The reality of being in love with you?

For so long I was hiding inside,
Never knowing what was there.
Now I face the truth you brought to light
When you found the strength to tell me
How much you cared.

I could fly as high as I dare to go,
And if I wanted, I would never come back down.
I could chase away the lonely shadows
That haunt my days whenever you're not around.
In this life I take for granted
The hopes and dreams that all came true,
But I'll hold on forever to the precious love I found
From the moment that I fell in love with you.
