After the Hunt Print E-mail

I sit here, in the moonlight
The huntin' day is done;
Can't say why I'm still here,
I guess it's just for fun.

The owl begins his hootin'
a coyote courts the moon.
I'm enjoying this so much,
I may not leave too soon.

Ya know a couple hours ago
afore the sun went down,
The woods was full of life
and the deer were all around.

I sit here in my treestand
just takin' it all in;
To leave right now and pass this up
would surely be a sin.

The turkeys, they have roosted
they finally settled down.
And way off in the distance,
I hear the trucks leave town.

The far off sounds remind me
that I'm not really all alone,
It's gettin' late ya know
I probably should get home.

I think of 'real world progress(?)'
as supper calls my name
And all the habitat there is
to which development lays claim.

I guess I oughta go now;
I'm startin' to feel a chill.
Ya know there's somethin' about these woods -
I just can't get my fill!
