it's good for me
it tones up my cerebral six-pack
it's an exercise regime
to tighten up my scansion
tickle my tmesis
perhaps even stiffen my pathetic fallacy
it makes me laugh
the joke puns allusions
some are for general consumption
some i sneak in for my own amusement
everything i write is laced with my own past
even tempus can be 'fraid
it's a mnemonic
a back catalogue of living
when i was young and easy
old and grey
here and there everywhere
pantheist
cynic
naturalist
social commentator
or
down-home philosopher
………all at the turn of a page
i'm too old to be an enfant terrible
human enough to fancy a little fame
too lazy to look for it
i don't want to get praised paid or laid
(but offers - postcards only please - should be sent to….)
i don't want to be a messiah
(or a disciple)
would hate to be in a movement
i write because
i like the sound my voice makes when it hits the paper
and
because
sometimes
like an echo in a glen
i can hear your keyboard's tapping
the scratching of your quill
