And sometimes have the heavens blushed
and sought a maidenly retreat behind a cloud.
One is known to have evaded the moon
as it strode past one across the parlor.
The moon is notorious for her nocturnal jaunts
seeking chance encounter with lovers
upon open terraces or shady groves thick with grass.
The moon knows one can't run away from it for long;
upon the sly it peeps through our curtains.
And I at least have seen this hide and seek end
just when I left heaven for earth.
The moon emerged from a sullen horizon
and smiled full in my face
as if it entirely belonged to me.
