In the guise of a bird, I am me
flying from flower to ocean to city,
my nest always there, but
loving the freedom of flight.

I am a bird amongst birds,
a tough old bird,
just one of the crowd,
but always me,

I touch God when I fly high,
make love in mid-air,
sleep with my head
on my naked breast,

singing, soaring scurrying to
pick up bread crumbs tossed
from a city window or eating
cranberries as they are harvested.

ME, I can do all these things
In the guise of a bird.
