Desiring to be a glowing ember
Ready to ignite the spirit of life
Warm to all that investigate
A dim light that grows with fuel

Yet I feel like the dying ashes

Yearning to be a sprouting seed
Pushing my way with vibrant strength
Greening to greet all who pass by
A beacon of a new beginning

Yet I feel like a dormant shell

Questing to be a Jonathan Seagull
Infused with curiosity and skill
Unbounded by societal norms
An example for those who care to dream

Yet I feel like I'm caught in a snare

Thirsting to be a babbling brook
Winding my way around the obstacles
Rising and falling without attachment
An energy that receives and radiates

Yet I feel that I am parched within

Yet I feel like a half-life in decline
Yet I feel caught in the treadmill
    of existence
    of denial
    of mere survival

Dreaming of the life I wish to live
