What can we do
with an apple and a cloud
What can we do
with a white cloud
and a green apple
What else can we do
but to make them meet
(towards the horizon line
on a day of calm seas
in the first hour of the sunset
they met:
the cloud that was swimming in the sky
and the apple that was floating in the sea)
What can we do
with an apple and a cloud
that had met
What else can we do
but to make them fall in love
(The apple looked at the cloud
and then elsewhere
The cloud looked at the apple
and stared at it forever
What can we do with an apple
indifferent to a cloud
What can we do
with a cloud
in love with an apple
(The cloud
dissolved in rain
and the rain
became the sea)
What can we do with a lonely apple
in the sea
What else can we do
but let it sink

*Òblaka is the Russian word for cloud
