On the head of white marble
a broad band of white marble binds
the undulated hair of white marble.
A curl of white marble
falls upon a marble temple
white,
where not a vein beats.
The mouth is smooth, well cut
and of white marble. The eyelids of marble,
delicate, white, have no lashes.
The eyes are also white and marble.
They have never closed, never opened,
never moved.
Nothing of her has ever moved.
Not a single hair.
