The Lord and I Print E-mail
(0 votes)

We talked and talked as years went by,
Within my heart the Lord and I.
When all was done we made a deal,
And with this vow, we did it seal.

I vowed to follow him straight home,
With nary a cry, no not a moan.
If he would keep you safe and well,
Until you hear old Gabriel's bell.

I got the better deal you see,
He should have charged an extra fee.
My time on earth, it's been mostly fun,
To watch you grow and bloom, Each one.

And as I go he holds my hand,
Yes I can hear old Gabrielle's band.
The music's fine and fills my soul,
And you are safe, my heart is full.

"The Conservative Conservatism makes no poetry, breathes no prayer, has no invention; it is all memory. Reform has no gratitude, no prudence, no husbandry."

~ Ralph W. Emerson
