The gentle thump of his beating heart
Is outweighed by the silence of mine falling apart.
His soft caressing fingers rest on my cheek
As my eyes fill with sorrow and my heart turns weak.
Searching his face from the bottom of his chin,
Stoppong at his dimples to savor the grin.
Onward I look until blue meets green,
And the emeralds of his eyes are all that's seen.
I am willingly caught in his blazing stare,
I'm drowning quickly in my despair.
Knowing I'm lost in what can never be mine,
Knowing our paths are divergent at the end of our time,
Leaves my soul with a barren ache
As I close my eyes and curse my fate.
