Passively — leaves swirl
drifting slowly like feathers
amidst dampened moss and blackened soil
Silently, calm sets in
as Autumn's chill descends upon us
Effortlessly ripening today's harvest
And peering now, through empty branches
desolate twigs crackle
through whooshing winds
Shhhh...in a distant echo
steps rustling amongst fallen leaves
lucidly evading nature's maturity
Stately, it stares through green pines
which have escaped yet another fall
Its eyes, scared, as it searches restlessly
and there, in its beautiful form
Just for a moment...it beckons to come
tenderly, it steps into full light
as it matts broken bark beneath
the doe scurries into dark shadows
seeking shelter from harm
shhhh...in a distant echo
pinkish skies settle in
ushering fresh, fallen snow
and amidst this beautiful display
Nature retrieves its Autumn glow
