Two statues of stone, handcarved by a chizel
In a park, they stand ~ stately and beautiful
Across the lonesome park, they gaze at each other
Thru the seasons of time ~ unspoken love for one another
In the early spring, patrons come and go
to marvel at the beauty of nature's blossom show
All the while, the statues stare in silence at each other
Loving eyes of desperation pleading for one another
Then, in summer ~ lovers meet beneath the maple trees
snuggling on the benches below ~ kissing, laughing, loving
And in the distance, the statues admire each other's stone physique
Yearning hearts of unrequitted love ~ unseen tears flow down their cheeks
Autumn arrives with golden leaves, in the midst of fall's rainbow of colors
New birds gather for the long, winter flight ~ yet the statues still pine for each other
Winter comes and all is still ~ a mantle of white upon the ground
Icycles adorn the barren branches ~ distant echoes of windchimes' songs
But in the silence, a solemn prayer from two statues in a park
They asked an angel to set them free ~ for to join their lonely hearts
One cold, crisp and wintry morning, the grey skies darkened with fury
The storm blew strong and hard ~ in the rubble, the statues were buried
No patron came to shed a tear for the statues lost that day
But in a twinkling of a blessed prayer ~ two, lonely hearts were joined that day
Their souls ascended in a heavenly place ~ where two statues found each other
Now, they no longer stood apart ~ for eternity, their souls were forever, together
