Apology to A Friend Print E-mail

An apology I must send
To my friends in Washington,
Since I did so errantly
Place their home in Oregon.

I'd be miffed if they placed me
In the state of Tennessee,
In Old Kentuc is where I am
And where I want to be

A map they said they'd send to me
That I may clearly find
The topography of the Great Northwest
And fix it in my mind.

Topography, I don't need
I am well versed in that.
The thing that I am short of
Lies just beneath my hat.

For I had fixed my mind upon
Some lines they sent to me
Of visiting in Oregon
Some site beside the sea.

So, Rich and Linda please accept
This apology from me,
Cause no matter where I put you,
You're where you ought a be.

There is this place we both reside
Where no boundaries separate
The ties that bond us all to each
It's called the Friendship State.

In this fair state we all can have
A home that we can claim
And boundaries are out of place
Yes, Friendship is it's name.
