Bananas Print E-mail
(0 votes)

I wonder why bananas grow,
Pointing to the sky.
Do bananas have ambition?
Do you think they want to fly?

If you tried to turn them over,
Do you think that they would balk?
Bananas should grow downward,
Not growing UP the stalk.

Bananas are a silly fruit,
Not like the other kinds.
You want to talk some serious fruit,
Look for those with rinds.

Cantaloupes and melons,
They stay close to ground.
If I was big as some of them,
I'd too just lay around.

If you embarrass a banana,
Assuming they can think,
Would it stay the same bright yellow,
Or would it blush to pink?

I've never seen a pink banana,
And I've never seen one blue.
But they could have feelings too,
The same as me and you.

So let's show respect to the banana,
An ambitious little fellow,
He courageously reaches for the stars,
Even though he's yellow.

- Marv Hardin
